Hiking Table Mountain can be a very rewarding experience, not only will you get a great workout, but you will also be spoiled with some awesome views from one of the new 7 wonders of the world. As a top rated 4 Star Bed and Breakfast in Cape Town that is located at the foot of Table Mountain, we share what we believe to be the top Table Mountain Hikes to try.
The Pipe Track
The Pipe Track is one of Table Mountain’s easiest hikes, as it takes you around Table Mountain. This hike offers you spectacular views of the Atlantic Ocean, Lion’s Head as well as a chance to get up close and personal with some of the mountain’s fynbos species.
To access the Pipe Track on Table Mountain, we suggest parking at the very first parking lot on Tafelberg Road and head to the right, where you will find the Pipe Track leading towards the Twelve Apostles.
Platteklip Gorge
Platteklip Gorge is one of the most popular hikes up Table Mountain that offers a zig-zag up Table Mountain that almost feels like you are climbing stairs.
To access Platteklip Gorge, we suggest that you start on Tafelberg Road, after the Cableway station, where you will see a sign for Platteklip Gorge as well as the parking. As you start this hike, keep left until you see the Platteklip turnoff. From there you will zig-zag your way up to a ravine that will take you to the top of Table Mountain.
Skeleton Gorge
The Skeleton Gorge hike is only about 3km and takes you through a forest-like start and beach like finish.
You will need to access the Skeleton Gorge from the Kirstenbosch National Botanical Garden, meaning that you will need to pay the entrance fee. The Skeleton Gorge takes you up the back of Table Mountain. The first half of the hike is forest-like, but you will be treated to some breathtaking views as you get closer to the top.
